About
We are available via email at support@isi.jhu.edu or by phone at 410-516-4898 For general user support, we are available Monday through Friday 10am - 6pm Eastern Time.
Computer Systems Managed by ISI
- The MSSI Lab and all systems therein, including the MSSI General Use computers and the Forensics "FTK" systems.
- Virtual machine Hosts and Guests for MSSI classes and coursework.
ISI faculty, staff, researchers, and students typically self-maintain their own systems. This includes research/project servers, virtual machines hosted on ISI research systems, and any hardware being loaned by ISI.
We will support hardware maintenance requests on systems owned by ISI but can not guarantee the ability to troubleshoot software or operating systems installed on these machines.
ISI Online Services
The Information Security Institute provides the following online services to affiliated users:
- Mailing Lists: ISI faculty, staff, and students may request mailing lists for classes, projects, or teams. Emails can be archived and made available online.
- Virtual Machines: Any ISI affiliate may request virtual machines for classes, capstone projects, or independent research. Several hypervisors are available depending on the purpose.
- VMware Academic Partnership: The Information Security Institute has access to free versions of all VMWare software available to affiliates. If you have not already been granted access, please contact support.
- GitHub: ISI maintains a GitHub account for research and educational use.
ISI Hardware
We have an extensive collection of hardware available that may be loaned to students, faculty, or staff for courses or research.
Purchasing Equipment
Hardware or software needed for your research or capstone projects may be purchased with proper approval documentation. If you need the department to purchase equipment or software for you, please speak with your PI, advisor, or someone in CS Department Administration.
Infrastructure
Network
Malone Hall contains several different networks used by different groups within the building. On the 3rd floor, any "Yellow" ethernet port is managed by ISI. We can configure any of these ports to allow connectivity to one or more of the following networks:
- MSSI Lab Network: This network is intended for MSSI students for classwork and general use. Clients may connect via DHCP and will have internet connectivity via NAT.
- Research Network: This network is reserved for ISI faculty and researchers. IP Addresses are internet-routable, are assigned statically, and must be reserved in advance from ISI support.
- DMZ Network: This network is for internet-routable systems. Any system on this network must have prior approval from ISI support.
Printing
We provide access to an ISI managed printer in the MSSI lab. Access to this printer is only permitted via MSSI workstations.
NOTES: ISI support does not supply or change paper in the printers we manage. Users can obtain paper from the ISI Admin Office in Malone 160.
Additional Infrastructure Notes
Audio/Visual (including conference room and office A/V) services and support in Malone Hall are handled by other groups within JHU. Please see: Audio-Visual.
